Talos Rooms

For us, Talos was a great fit since we like exploring and getting to know the authentic Chania. The location is perfect, everything is within walking distance, and Christina as a host made it worth staying here. It’s also one of the best options price-wise. The rooms are a little small and not as luxurious as five-star hotels, but that was fine for us. If you want an all-inclusive stay, there are other places to choose from. We’ve been coming to Chania for years and have run into bugs all over at this time of year, so they didn’t bother us. We had no roaches during our stay at Talos. We had an amazing time and will come again next year!

We were really pleased with our recent choice. The accommodation was very good for the price, clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. Right in the center of Chania’s old city, it let us walk to almost everything and get a feel for Greek life. We’d definitely go back!

The worst issue was a cockroach in the bathroom. The room was also clearly unclean when we arrived, and the furniture was broken. I hadn’t expected a five-star hotel, but this was a disaster. Christina said cockroaches were normal in Crete, which I believe is untrue. We saw one, and only in this room. I asked politely for my money back in cash and offered to return the keys right away and cancel the Booking.com reservation. There was no free cancellation, so I thought they wouldn’t lose anything. Christina proposed a 50% refund, but only if I paid half the room price upfront in cash. She said it was a temporary offer, her boss didn’t know, and it went against Booking.com’s rules. But Booking.com doesn’t offer free cancellation, so if I cancel, they keep the money. It felt like a scam or fraud attempt. These rooms are overpriced and cockroach-infested. Stay away.

Right by the old harbor, with all the famous photo spots just a few meters away, this was a great choice. The rooms are small and cozy, and very clean. Christina, the woman who welcomed us, knew a lot about the city and beyond.
