Diogenis Hotel

I didn't feel the hotel was worth the price. The rooms have central air conditioning, but the manual controls didn't cool mine enough. Breakfast was the main disappointment, well below what I'd expect from a 4-star hotel, and in my view below 3-star standards. The food and drinks were poor: the feta was soft and not up to Greek standards, the tomatoes and cucumbers came mixed together like salad, and the Greek yogurt was runny and tasteless. The concentrated orange juice was awful, and there was only one kind of black tea, no breakfast tea. The cramped breakfast room had tables crowded in and just needed a fan. There were no placemats or flowers, or anything else on the tables, and the self-service cutlery was laid out on trays like in a staff cafeteria. The staff were very polite and helpful, and the location is excellent.

We got to Syros port at 4:30 in the morning with no idea what to do at that hour. This cafe across from the port was open and came to the rescue with hot coffee and hot cake. The staff member was so kind and hospitable. We loved the welcome and are sure we'll come back to stay at the hotel sometime and enjoy more of it.

I was in town for a business trip to the local shipyard, just a five-minute walk away. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the cafeteria and bar had good coffee. The rooms were clean and spacious by Greek standards, and the ferry station was only a minute away. A really nice hotel in a great spot.

I'd skip the breakfast. There isn't anything there to miss, so go to a nearby bakery instead. My single room worked as a place to sleep and leave my things, but it felt very standard and could use an update compared with the photos of the other rooms. There was barely space around the bed with all the furniture, and removing one of the two nightstands would help. The bathroom was so tight I could hardly move in it. There was only one usable outlet, by the bathroom and front door, nowhere near the bed or desk.
