The hotel was attractive, well located, and convenient, but I had a terrible experience with the staff and customer service. I felt they wanted to control everything and watched guests closely. I saw a little girl told to put an apple back on the dining table after she had taken a bite and was carrying it toward her room. Guests weren’t allowed to take breakfast to their rooms, and staff would call people out in front of others. When my son felt unwell one morning and I tried to get a plate for him, they made a big issue of it. If you arrive early, you can leave your things but can't use the facilities. I also saw a family with a late flight have a hard time staying and using the facilities after checkout. I’d suggest reading the bad reviews before booking. The beauty, convenience, and price won me over, but had I read them, I would have stayed away. I became so uncomfortable that I left for somewhere else to get peace of mind. I found another hotel for a similar price, just a little higher, inside the city. It had no pool, but the treatment was fantastic. They even cooked for me and made coffee to make up for the bad experience at the first hotel. I’ve been to 94 countries and about 1,000 cities, and stayed in probably more than 1,000 hotels over my lifetime. I’ve never had such a terrible experience. It left me so shaken that I won’t book another hotel for more than one night without checking reviews. I also had to fight to get my refund. When they finally agreed to cancel, they didn’t refund my card right away and called the police on me. Only after I brought a local artist friend to help did they dismiss the police and promise her the card would be refunded within five days. There was still no refund after five days, so I emailed them and filed a claim with my card issuer, with evidence from their printed bill and the Hotels.com cancellation confirmation. An absolute nightmare.
