Amer Suites Fira

We booked Monday for four days and were picked up and taken to an apartment in Vourvoulos, in the middle of nowhere, not Fira. There was no pool, and the place looked nothing like the listing. When we questioned the young girl showing us around, she brushed us off and kept chatting. Then she asked for cash. We said we’d paid by credit card through booking.com, but she told us we’d get a better deal by paying her directly. We refused. I asked where we were because we had no address and there was nothing around us. She left, saying she’d take the money from booking.com because it hadn’t been taken yet. I went outside looking for a street name and found nothing. When I messaged to ask again, she eventually sent a Google Maps screenshot showing only “Amera suit,” not suites, and Maison Fira. The next day we got messages saying the card had been declined and we had to pay her. We knew it couldn’t have been declined because we had a booking confirmation, and I sent all the details. She said her boss would come in the morning to collect payment. We were frightened, so the two of us packed and left in the middle of the night, not knowing where we were. We managed to get a cab to safety. Amera kept messaging that we hadn’t followed their policies and that the card was declined. We blocked all the details, and booking.com cancelled from Amera. This is how they try to get you to pay cash. After that, calls came from different numbers, along with texts and messages threatening to wait for us at the airport. Be aware, you may not get the place near Fira and could be asked for cash. Nik is the one pulling strings. Several other places have reviews like ours. They need to be stopped. They operate under several names: Amera suites, Amara hotel, and a place in Vourvoulos. BEWARE. The pictures are of where they took us, which is not the advertised place, plus a picture of the girl we dealt with and one I found of him. I wish I’d checked Trustpilot and other reviews beforehand.

A lovely, spotless place that felt peaceful and relaxing. The hosts were so kind and always ready to help, and made us feel welcome.

The staff were cheerful, helpful, and always ready when we needed something. We had an unforgettable stay, and choosing this hotel for our Santorini vacation worked out wonderfully. We highly recommend it.

Nik and his family made us feel very welcome, and the suite itself was clean and tidy. We especially liked the jacuzzi bath, and breakfast arrived at our suite on time each morning with plenty to choose from. One thing to know about the location: we thought we were booking in central Fira, but the suite was a five-minute drive outside town. Nik arranged rides to and from the suite with plenty of notice, which made that easier. There are also suites above reception.
