Erato Apartments

The WiFi was pretty slow, which was my one issue, though it did make it easier to enjoy the holiday. We were lucky to get a room away from the road, with a lovely balcony and stunning view. The pool was nice, and the comfortable room had a kitchenette with everything we needed. The staff were super sweet and made the hotel feel like home.

We came in September 2023, though I’m only getting around to reviewing now. My biggest frustration was not being allowed to leave our bags, so we paid over 20 euros just to have a couple of free hours on our last day before the airport. The “sea view” room was misleading to me: it faced the far side of the island, away from the caldera. They also describe it as close to town, but the steep hill makes the walk much longer, which was a real pain at the end of a two-week island trip. The room itself was decent, though it smelled a bit of bleach most days. The pool looked even less appealing in person than in the photos, but at least it was mostly clean.

Cleaning was great, and there’s not really anything else to add except that I’d recommend it. We had a great experience: the room was very good for the price, the staff were lovely, and the location felt nice because it wasn’t near a crowded area. Parking is limited if you rent a car.

The main issue was the noise. The hotel sits between two main roads, and cars and people looking through the windows could be a problem even with the windows shut. You might get a room facing the sea, but otherwise it’s just traffic passing by. The pool also didn’t seem to be cleaned very often. The hotel and rooms were clean and in good shape, the reception staff were helpful, and the location is decent, about a 15-20 minute walk from Fira bus station.
