Santorini Reflexions Volcano

The common terrace was the best place to watch the sunset over the horizon, with a view across the caldera and Fira. Breakfast was available there all the time. The food was simple and clean, with what you need for a good start to the morning. The indoor pool was also great and very clean. Our host gave us a really helpful, detailed run-through of places to visit in Santorini and how to reach them. The bus is the obvious option, and Fira's central bus station is only a five-minute walk away. Getting to and from the hotel can be a little tricky because of the flights of stairs, but the effort is worth it. The location and balcony views are amazing. I would add cushions to the sun loungers on the terrace. Wi-Fi in the rooms on the lowest tier wasn't good.

Sam, who I think is the owner, was really friendly and took time to point out places of interest. We had a large, clean room, and the view from it and the patio above was great. The shower wasn't what I'm used to, but we made do. Beautiful spot.

We only stayed one night, but had a really nice time. Breakfast had a good selection, and the staff were extremely friendly. Every room has a balcony looking over Fira and the caldera. It was a little hard to find since the hotel is spread across several “floors,” and Google Maps showed the location slightly differently.

The booking and service here left me and my mum very upset. I spent a month in Greece in September 2019 visiting family in Athens and several islands. The other hotels were exceptional, which made this one stand out as the worst. I booked through Expedia what seemed to be the last room for our dates. It was meant to have a sea or caldera view, a balcony, and either a double bed or two singles. The request wasn't honored. The hotel emailed to say there had been an error on their end and offered a room at their sister hotel in KAMARI, about 10 km from where we wanted to stay. I didn't want that alternative and was happy to cancel and get my money back. When we called the hotel, they reassured us they'd put us in our preferred hotel in Thira, with the view, balcony, and beds we had requested. But when we arrived, that room wasn't available. We were told to spend the first night in another room without a view or balcony. The man at reception showed us room no.1. It was small and closed in, like an underground attic or basement, with a barred window that looked almost like a jail cell. Mum and I felt very uncomfortable. I asked to use the reception phone to call family in Athens and let them know we'd arrived, but was told it couldn't be used to call Athens. That was inconvenient, especially as reception and the Wi-Fi in our room were poor. The next night we moved to a room with the view and balcony we had booked, but it wasn't very clean and seemed old and dated. The night before leaving, we asked for help with our luggage in the morning, since reaching the bus stop or taxi stand meant going up many large, steep stairs. We were told they couldn't call a taxi and that we should take a bus from the stop to the port. No one helped us carry the bags up the hill, and reception staff came across as cold and disinterested. Before leaving, I asked for the first night's charge back because we hadn't received the room we'd booked. They told us to contact the hotel office, which we did after returning to Athens. The office said we'd get a partial refund because of the error, but nothing came, even after we followed up weeks later. In the end I gave up. They'd only agreed to refund 30 euro, not even half the room price. I had high hopes and am very, very disappointed. Do not stay here.
