The room was a highlight: we booked a superior family room with a sea view, and it was modern, spacious, and had really comfortable beds. We went in October, so the pool was a little cold, though the sea wasn't too bad. The snack bar and Greek/Italian restaurant were nice, and the main restaurant's food was good, if a bit repetitive. Tibi and Boogy from the animation team worked hard to get guests involved in activities, if they wanted to join in. The evening shows were decent enough to keep us entertained at the hotel. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants a few minutes' walk away, and taxis or the shuttle bus to Rhodes town weren't expensive.

We had such a relaxing stay at Avra Beach Resort. The private beach was a real favourite, with plenty of sunbeds, though the comfy beds get claimed early and a few could do with replacing. The food had loads of choice and was amazing, and all the staff were lovely. We had a room issue, but it was sorted straight away. Beee was the best, such a gorgeous person, friendly and helpful, always checking on us and sharing tips about places and transport. The luxury hotel ride to the old town was Fab, €7 return. Night entertainment was great, and we were happy to stay in, though we went back to Semis Taverna in Ialysos and the old town twice. Would definitely return. Yamas 🍻

We enjoyed our stay, though I might have felt differently at the prices other couples told us they'd paid. We got a good deal at the very end of the season, and the hotel closed the day we left. It was quiet but still had a bit of life, with kids playing football and adults lounging around. The welcome was pleasant and helpful, and we'd been upgraded to a twin room. Watching the sun set from the beach was lovely. Our room had a double bed made from two singles, plus two single beds on a lower level. It was reasonably clean except under the bed, where there was dust, bits, and even a soft toy. The room was dated but did the job, and they now have newer rooms. It was hot when we arrived because the AC had been left on heat. The receptionist helped us fix it, but the aircon was downstairs by the single beds, so cooling the upstairs sleeping area was hard. There were only two sockets, neither near the beds, and no kettle, tea or coffee, or iron. The sea-view balcony was a nice touch, but the frosted glass front meant you could only see the view while standing, so we hardly used it. The room key and lock were awkward too: the lock was cutting into the frame, and you had to move your hand quickly after unlocking to avoid trapping it. Drinks were nice and very sweet, better than at some other resorts we've stayed in. The beer and Avra beach special stood out. Service was polite, quick, and decent, though not especially friendly. The buffet was good. There wasn't a huge selection, but the nightly themes gave everyone enough choice. Entertainment for about 30 people at the season's end was okay, if not great. The entertainment staff could be pushy, sitting at our table and not taking the hint when we wanted space. One staff member upset my partner by commenting on her body. That was completely unacceptable. I spoke to the manager, who was kind and apologised. We booked trips to the old town and Symi island, which I'd highly recommend, through the well-organised excursion company on site. When I asked for an iron, I was sent to a laundry room that was basically a dirty staff room full of sheets, with a plastic cup of cigarette butts and one broken iron. It took us over half an hour to get it working. One iron for a whole hotel is crazy. I also met a couple whose room hadn't been cleaned when they arrived, with towels on the floor and sheets piled on the bed. This felt much more like a family resort than a romantic one. It could be nice in high summer with more guests and the staff in full flow, but that wasn't our experience.

The beach is pebbly, but still lovely, and we could always find sunloungers by the pool or on the beach. There was a beach bar for drinks and snacks too. We had a quiet girls' getaway for 3 nights in October and absolutely loved it. Our beds were comfy, and we were lucky to get a pool/sea view. All-inclusive meals were delicious, snacks were great, and the beer was good. Cocktails were only average. The location was ideal: about a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport (€21) and another 10 minutes to the beautiful old town, which is a must to visit. I'm not much for hotel entertainment, but the team seemed lovely, and there was an amazing band one night. One morning, they brought trifles out to us while we sunbathed on the beach, which was such a nice touch. My one complaint is that breakfast ended at 9.30am, too early for me. Snacks were available all day, but breakfast was so delicious I didn't want to miss it. Really happy we chose Avra beach hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this all-inclusive resort near Rhodes city, with easy trips into the main town. The beach is pebbly, but getting into the sea was easy, and the large pool was beautiful, with a small area for children. There were poolside activities every morning and lovely staff. Special mention to Bernadine and the guy who wore the bl9nde wig 😀. The food was great at the main restaurant, beach snack bar, and small Greek restaurant. Evening entertainment began with a song and dance session for k8ds that had us joining in too. We'd been home a week and were still singing 'chu chu wa . . ". The adult programme had music, dancing, and bingo as well.
