Iliovasilema Suites

For the best sunset on Santorini, even better than Oia, this is the place. The caldera views are completely unobstructed, and the location is hard to beat: 30 minutes from Oia, a 20-minute walk to Fira, and a 20-minute drive to the airport. You're also right in the middle of everything on the island. The whole staff is attentive, kind, and warm, and the service is very good. We have to come back. One last tip: try early June or the end of May for fewer crowds, better prices, and cooler weather.

Breakfast on our balcony was tasty, nicely presented, and clearly well prepared. We also loved how easy it was to walk toward Fira or even Oia from this spot. The views are stunning, and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. Melina, Manos and Matteo especially always greeted us with a smile and such good intentions. We had a wonderful long weekend at Iliovasilema Suites and can definitely recommend it.

The electrical safety issue was the most alarming part of our honeymoon stay. A kettle in the villa malfunctioned, cut the power, and nearly electrocuted me. The outlet looked water-damaged, but when we reported it, management brushed us off without inspecting it, said this was “normal for electrical appliances,” and asked if my hands were wet. They were defensive throughout, and none of our concerns felt taken seriously. We were also put in a separate villa about a 7-minute walk from the hotel, despite the agent's listing showing a hotel suite with a cave pool. Management admitted this had happened before. Breakfast was poor and oddly restrictive: we had to choose a set time, and being just a few minutes late meant the food had been sitting in the sun instead of being freshly served. This was one of the strangest, most uncomfortable accommodation experiences we've had. We wouldn't recommend it.

The people here helped us make lovely new memories, and we had such a good time in Santorini. It's been years since our last visit, and the island was even better than we remembered. The hotel, its beautiful setting, and its lovely staff all made our stay special.
