On The Rocks

We liked having the busier areas nearby without staying right in the middle of them. It’s about a mile to Fira along a paved coastal path, an easy walk for eating and shopping. There are a couple of grocery stores close by for water and snacks, plus some nice local restaurants for dinner. The small pool and bar face the water and seem just the right size for the number of rooms. This smaller hotel was a lovely honeymoon spot, with cozy cave-like rooms built into the cliff. It wasn’t extravagant, but it was exactly the right level for us. It seemed to have mostly couples and a few groups of girls staying there. We could enjoy the view through the room windows or from our deck, where we had breakfast each day. The staff were great and carried our bags and meals to the room. Be ready for stairs, though, since getting around on the cliffside means climbing them everywhere. We’d absolutely recommend it to other couples, especially in the April or May shoulder season.

The room had everything we needed, the view was amazing, and the staff were friendly. The only downside is that bus trips around the island mean heading back to Fira each time to transfer.

The views were incredible, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our five-day stay. The room was small, which is to be expected with a cliffside hotel, and the shower head was mounted a bit too low, making it awkward to use. Breakfast was convenient to arrange online the day before, with the choice of delivery to the room or pool. It was good overall, though what arrived in our room didn’t always match what we’d ordered, which was disappointing. Even so, the positive parts of the stay outweighed those minor issues.

Maria made our time especially lovely. She was warm and helpful, arranging restaurants, transfers, and bars for us. The staff were wonderful, and breakfast was a delicious way to start the day on our private balcony, looking out over the caldera. We had a luxurious room at On The Rocks in Imerovigli, with a private balcony and hot tub and breathtaking caldera views. The hotel brings together elegant comfort, great service, and beautiful scenery. It made for an unforgettable Santorini escape.
