Nantin Hotel Ioannina

The mattress was the one thing I really loved, maybe the best sleep I’ve ever had. The room was large with a balcony, and it eventually got really warm after we turned on the air conditioning and waited about 30 minutes in our jackets. But when we arrived, the main heating wasn’t working and the room was freezing. The toilet was very cold and small, with a strange curtain, and hadn’t been cleaned properly. The bed sheets were clean but not ironed, and the floor wasn’t very clean either. Breakfast was a disappointment too: the buffet was poor and everything was cold. The hotel is about a five-minute taxi ride from the center, and the location itself was convenient. At breakfast, the cleaning lady and receptionist were chatting loudly while we tried to relax. Cleaning supplies, towels, and bed sheets were on a cart by reception, and the cleaning lady was leaning on the desk chatting, which looked scruffy and unwelcoming. There was no parking offered, and finding a spot outside the hotel was very hard, so we left our car parked and took taxis back and forth. I was also told to check in online for all three of us. I didn’t do it, and found it ridiculous that I was expected to enter everyone’s passport details when I had paid and prepaid for the room. I expected something totally different from the photos. It was originally €110, reduced to €70, but I wouldn’t pay that kind of money again for this quality. I’ve stayed in great places for €45-50.

Mary’s friendly, professional manner really stood out. We had a great experience and service, and it was a nice place to stay and enjoy Ioannina.

The balconies are large, and the hotel is close enough to the center, the lake, and nearby markets to get around on foot. Breakfast is included, the rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom could use some improvement.

The room was clean and the place was quiet, but the service was bad. There was no reception after 4 pm, and after a long, tiring day I had to call to get a password so I could get in. They said they had emailed it to Expedia, which felt like an excuse. The bathroom was also very small. At checkout, the receptionist was impolite. When I asked for a receipt for my residence tax, she said she couldn’t give me one. After a lot of explanation and a bad attitude on her part, she understood what I meant and the problem was solved.
