Ionion Blue Hotel

The location and appearance of Ionion Hotel are perfect. Breakfast let it down for us: there wasn’t much variety, especially fresh fruit or bread, and we had to keep asking for things to be restocked. Nothing was cooked fresh to order. Other guests made similar comments. On arrival there were extra charges: €196 for air conditioning, though I paid €144, €40 for the safe, and €70 tourist tax. We usually stay at Cava Suites and will return there, as the booking price is similar. This is just our balanced, neutral view of the hotel. People’s opinions will differ depending on expectations. I hope anyone coming to Ionion Hotel enjoys their stay. Thank you.

The location is perfect, especially for couples. Cleaners and waiters were fantastic, and one receptionist was great. The other could work on their manners. Be ready for the extra air conditioning cost and tourist tax, though the tax is more affordable.

We’ve toured a lot of the island and think this is one of the better places to stay. It’s just off Kalamaki’s main strip, so it’s peaceful while still close to everything. The staff are warm and welcoming, and you can book island tours, boats, quads or cars just a couple hundred yards away. Kelvin the barman is a great guy who really wants you to have a good time. The lady who does breakfast and the bar is so sweet. The owner’s family are lovely too. They sit and eat near the bar, chatting through the evening, and are very friendly. We’d definitely like to come back.

The rooms have enough space for a family of four. We asked for a ground floor room to make things easier with the pram, and it was absolutely fine. It’s a beautiful place tucked away, with wonderful staff and even better cocktails. The beach is a five to ten minute walk, and so is the main road with its bars and restaurants. There’s a shop two to five minutes down the road for essentials. The pool bar food is basic, but the pizzas were banging. I’d skip the paid large breakfast. I’d definitely stay again.
