Kalidonio Studios

We had a great stay in June 2024. The pool bar and cafe were a lovely place to stop for a drink or snack, and Alma couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. Fotini welcomed us too and made the stay a great experience. Anna looked after our room really well, cleaning it every day and making towel sculptures on change days. The Studios are well placed for the Kalamaki strip, with bars, restaurants, car hire and mini markets, and the beach is a short walk away. We met lots of lovely people, and many guests at the pool had been returning for years. I’d recommend a stay, and we’ll be back.

The location is quiet, which suits me at my age, though maybe it wouldn’t be ideal for younger people. Rooms are spacious and clean, with daily maid service, and customer service was good. I’d just had an operation, and the lady quickly got us a good shower mat. Water still gets everywhere because the shower has no door. The snack and drinks bar has limited hours, so sometimes you can’t get a drink before heading out to dinner. The lady had to deal with a couple of idiots who got drunk at 3am and lost their key. The bar lady can be very officious too. Some idiots on our floor complained about noise when we weren’t even in, but she still came to speak to us. Amazing what power a wheelchair gives you. I’d recommend the hotel.

It was okay, but I wouldn’t recommend it, since there seem to be lots of better hotels nearby. The room was clean, the bathroom was nice, the pool was pleasant and the location was good. We still had a great time in Kalamaki. A few things made the stay uncomfortable. We arrived at 7 PM thirsty, and the lady told us the water wasn’t drinkable and that she sold water. Given that other Greek hotels I’ve stayed at offer a bottle on arrival, even when their water is drinkable, I thought they could have put one in the fridge for us. The pool was nice but closed at 6 PM, which seemed very early for summer in Greece. Three nights out of four, staff woke us by talking loudly right outside our door at 8 AM. We were in the room next to reception, but still. Residents also woke us at night, though that wasn’t the hotel’s fault. The hotel’s cheap moves were uncomfortable too. Air conditioning seemed to be an extra, though mine was included through booking.con and it seems it wasn’t for others. We didn’t get shampoo or soap refilled during our four days. When we got back in the evening, reception was empty, so it was too late to ask. With the water sales and AC option as well, I came away thinking they’d learned capitalism.

The owner and staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. There’s a pool with a bar and food, and it’s only a short walk to the beach. Our spacious room could sleep a third person if needed. It came with a kettle, microwave, fridge and hot plates, the beds were very comfortable, and the rooms are cleaned every day.
