Sofia's Hotel

The location was just right, and we’d happily return. This was our first stay at Sofia’s, though we come to kalamaki often. The staff were so helpful, and everyone from reception to the bar was friendly and welcoming. Armando especially made us smile with his lively energy and great banter. He really made our stay special. The blonde receptionist, whose name I’m sorry I’ve forgotten, was lovely too. She always greeted us with a big smile, asked how our day was, and even gave us a sweet farewell gift. Breakfast had a good range, though we mostly went for yoghurt and fruit. The cleaners came in every day. Our room was small and basic, but had what we needed. There wasn’t a socket in the kitchen for the kettle, and we could have used a balcony rack for drying towels and clothes, but neither issue got in the way too much. We had a brilliant stay and will definitely come back.

The local beach was the best part of our trip. We spent most of our time there and used the hotel mainly as a base, barely using the pool. There’s a reasonably priced shop next door with fresh fruit and vegetables. Just keep in mind this is a two-star hotel with small, basic rooms. We got used to the tight space, but the mattress was terribly uncomfortable on the first night. We told Valerie the next day, and she arranged a mattress topper that made things much better. The cleaners came every day, and the place felt clean, which helped us feel more at ease. Breakfast was great and the service felt five-star. The self-catering setup worked better than expected: we cooked curry one night without trouble using the stove and pans. We could hear people talking in the next room, so we used earplugs. For us it worked out, but if you want somewhere spacious or more special, it may not be the right fit. If simple is fine and you can manage without being completely comfortable, you should be okay.

We had a one-bedroom apartment with free WiFi and a safe. Everything was immaculate, and the breakfast staff were excellent. We also met some lovely people and will definitely be back to Sofias.

Sofias is a really nice, very clean hotel, and the staff were lovely. Breakfast was amazing, with a wide choice to suit everyone. It’s under new management, and you can see how much effort is going into making it fabulous. We had a lovely holiday in Sofias Hotel, Kalamaki, Zante. The location was great: turn left for the quieter end of the resort and some lovely places to eat, or right for the livelier part. There are lovely beaches nearby, and we had some amazing food. No complaints at all.
