Acqua Vatos Santorini Hotel

We came back for four nights in August, 17 years after our last stay. The room was spacious, clean and had plenty of storage, and the location is hard to beat, just a two-minute walk to the beach and restaurants. The pool itself was clean and a good size, though the surrounding area could use some attention. The pool bar ran from 11am to 7pm, with probably the cheapest prices in Kamari.

The staff at Acqua Vatos Hotel were lovely and helpful, and the spot makes it easy to get around town. Since breakfast was the only meal included, we ate out for the rest, which could get expensive. On some afternoons we picked up reasonably priced sandwiches and pastries from the bakery around the corner and ate them on our balcony. There are also several cheaper takeaway places around town if you're watching your budget. Just a heads-up, Santorini costs more to stay on than many other Greek islands.

We stayed for seven nights and loved how convenient everything was, with the beach, shops and restaurants right nearby. The hotel is beautiful, the staff were amazing and helpful, and the cleaning team did a top-class job. The pool bar closed at 7pm, and the only thing we missed was having a hotel bar open for a drink at the end of the night. We'd definitely come back.

Asimina at the desk made us feel at ease as soon as we arrived. I looked forward to seeing her each day, and we were sorry to miss her when it was time to say goodbye. The rooms were always clean, with a good-sized bathroom and lovely toiletries, and there were still sunbeds by the pool in May. Shops, bars, restaurants and the beach are all close. We slept well all week, and breakfast even had Twinnings tea alongside the local choices. I'd recommend it.
