Poseidon Beach Hotel

The staff were welcoming, attentive, and always helpful. Our room was fresh and tidy, with air conditioning, a fridge, safe, TV in both rooms, hair dryer, and balcony. It was comfortable rather than fancy, though the bathroom could be a bit larger. The hotel is in a great spot just across from the beach. The pool is small but clean, and breakfast had a good range of dishes, which we could enjoy on the veranda overlooking the beach.

The location made it easy to enjoy Kamari: the hotel is right by the beach, with plenty of shops and places to eat nearby, plus a bus station for trips to Fira. We also liked the restaurant across the road, which the hotel owns. Prices were reasonable, portions were huge, and spending €10 there got us two free beach beds. Our room was compact but big enough for two, with a roomy, well-equipped bathroom, good air conditioning, and everything clean. The pool area was lovely, with a nice choice of beds and chairs, though it’s small and can get busy. Most of all, the staff made our stay. Reception welcomed us warmly and gave us lots of useful information at check-in, including how to hire a car or bike. They were all so kind and helpful. We loved our stay, and I’d recommend it to a couple or small family.

A heads-up for swimming at Kamari Beach: getting in and out of the water can be difficult because smooth rocks covered with slippery algae line the shore. Waterproof shoes are a good idea. The hotel itself is in a handy spot, right on the beach and among the shops and restaurants, with the bus station within walking distance. The pool is cute and has sunbeds around it. Our room was clean and a good size, with a nice little inner terrace where we could relax and dry clothes. The bathroom was pleasant, though its shower panel was broken. Staff said they were waiting for a replacement to arrive. They also lend pool and beach towels for free with a €10 deposit per towel, refunded when you bring them back. We stayed two weeks ago and found the price good compared with other places in Santorini and Kamari.

The rooms were about what I’d expect from a two-star place, nothing beyond that. The pool loungers had some dark stains, and breakfast didn’t offer much variety. Wi-Fi never worked, even after customers complained repeatedly. Staff blamed the distance of the access point from our room, but it was right outside room 110, where we were staying. That excuse, along with the rude reception, was frustrating. Next time I’ll find somewhere myself. The only positive note is that it’s close to the wing.
