Villa Aspasia

We spent a week at Villa Konstantina, beside Aspasia. Konstantina doesn’t show up on Google Maps, and I’m not sure why. The villa has a very nice view, but it’s quite far from everything on foot, so having a car is worthwhile. By car, shops, the beach and restaurants are just a few minutes away. Most things were fine, though a few issues bothered us. We booked directly on their website and received very precise, detailed information from the managers, a British company. They covered local shops, restaurants and the pharmacy, as well as villa details like the pool, insurance and kitchen use. Still, we had interruptions to the electricity at one point and several times no water came from the taps. I understand this may be a common island problem, but when you pay that much for a holiday, you expect these things to work. They should drill a well or provide their own generator. The cleaning lady came over when we arrived and tried to communicate, but she didn’t speak any English. We managed with Google Translate. The cleaning wasn’t perfect either. The dining table was sticky in places, the kitchen cupboard handles had years of grime on them, and the bathrooms weren’t spotless. She was also rude and kept asking us for money. The yard was full of cats, which we found unpleasant. They drank from the pool and seemed used to doing so, with a bowl left out for them. If you like cats, that may be fine, but anyone allergic to cat hair shouldn’t go, since they keep coming back.
