Utopia Hotel

The rooms were beautifully decorated and really comfortable, and the location made it easy to get to the town and beaches. The staff made our holiday unforgettable: friendly, attentive and genuinely glad to help with anything. They were always there with great recommendations and helped everything go smoothly. Can't say enough good things about our stay at Utopia Hotel Koufonisia. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Koufonisia!

The staff were wonderful, warm and attentive, with great recommendations. They even booked dinner for us, which made things effortless. Breakfast in the courtyard was lovely, with fresh coffee made to order. We soon became Freddo Espresso fans. Koufonisia itself felt like paradise, with stunning beaches and relaxed tavernas. We'd stay again in a heartbeat, and left already planning to return. Utopia Koufonisia is right by the port and just steps from the town beach, a perfect location. The hotel has a lovely island feel, from the terracotta floors, pottery and shaded pergolas in the common areas to the bright, calming rooms. Those are done in a chic BoHo-Mediterranean style, with woven chairs, soft textiles and balconies where you can soak up the island light.

SMELLY SCAM!!! We paid 400€ a night, close to $800 AUD, for a suite that smelled so bad I couldn't sleep, shower or even stay in the room. I vomited twice because of the disgusting smell. We slept with the covers over our heads just to get a proper night's rest. After the first night, we sent two emails to the hotel manager about the problem and got no response. At the front desk, we were told it was the island's smell. But if that's the case, why not install diffusers or proper ventilation so the water in the shower can evaporate? And why build the most expensive “suites” on the same level as the ocean, where the smell hits worst? We asked to move to a cheaper double room, and saw availability on their website. The manager said the website availability was wrong. How can their own website be wrong? They just didn't want to move us and charge half the price. A very greedy hotel that doesn't care about guests' wellbeing. They also hadn't charged us yet and wanted to make sure they charged us in full before moving us. This is a poor excuse for a four-star hotel, and those prices are crazy. I emailed the manager twice to explain our grievances and still haven't heard anything. What happened to Greeks being known for good hospitality? I'll never stay here again. It gives the island a bad name. Spend your money elsewhere. Hard-earned money down their SMELLY DRAIN!!!!

Panos and the team were extremely nice and helpful. I can't wait to come back this fall. Utopia is the best, with the most convenient and amazing location on the island, right by the beach, port and restaurants. The rooms are clean and modern, and Star-link internet meant no connection or bandwidth issues.
