Villa Michael

The garden is spacious, with swings that kids of any age will enjoy and seating spread across different spots, so you can choose sun, shade, or by the pool without hauling chairs around. It’s also suitable if you use a wheelchair and can bear weight, with a little help. The village feels authentic and is a lovely, quiet place to stay. You might hear a cockerel in the morning or dogs barking in the distance, but there’s no bar music, rowdy people coming home drunk, or constant traffic. Nightlife is just a short drive or taxi away. There are small local shops and a coffee bar within walking distance, and Lidl is about a 10-minute drive for BBQ supplies or beer. The owners have clearly put a lot of effort into making guests comfortable. The villa is well sized and equipped, in a village setting with no nearby villas or overlooking neighbors. It has three double bedrooms and would suit families, couples, or a small group. We’ve stayed in villas across Europe, and this is one of my top three. If you’re unsure about booking, I’d say it’s worth it. I can’t fault the place and would definitely return.

A lovely home in a classic Greek village, with wonderful owners who grow vegetables and let you pick some. There’s a fantastic secluded beach not far away, though you’ll need a 4x4 to get down the road. A great way to enjoy the real Greece.

Malcolm, the pool assistant, gardener, and local guide, was fantastic. He lives in the village, moved to Corfu three years ago, and was always around if we needed anything. He really went out of his way to make our stay a good one. We arranged the trip as a package with Jet 2, and I don’t know who owns the villa. We’re nearly at the end of our holiday, and I usually never return to the same place. But my wife Angie and I would book Villa Michael again next year. We can’t fault it. Driving through the old Greek village, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but turning into Villa Michael was like arriving in heaven. Through the gate, it’s simply stunning. The place combines old-time Greek character with very high-end accommodation. The villa is top quality, and you could stay there the whole time, though Corfu is so beautiful that a car is needed to explore its bays and coastline with the kids. It’s only our first day, and I’ve already been impressed. The pool has just lit up, so I’ll add another photo.
