Bellos Hotel Apartments

The only real drawback was the walk back from the centre of Hersonissos, which takes longer because of the steep hills. There's also a steep slope down to reception at the entrance. Aside from that, our four nights at the Bellos were great. The studio was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed, and the grounds and pool area were lovely. Staff were very friendly and the service was good.

The setting is lovely, and the staff were fantastic. Thanos greeted us with a complimentary drink when we arrived late after my partner's case went missing, then brought us another when we left. The case came back at 7pm the next day. I was unwell for the whole trip and had to cut our ten-night stay short after four days, including a night at Heraklion hospital. I could barely eat or drink, and the lovely woman in the rooftop restaurant went out of her way to help me find something I might manage. I really appreciated her kindness. The self-catering room was very basic and dated, as we'd expected, but we were disappointed by how little there was to cook with. Although it sleeps four, the small stove would make cooking for even two difficult, and there was just one wardrobe. I wish we'd been able to enjoy the facilities and entertainment, but we spent most of our time in the apartment and had to fly home early. The walk to Hersonissos or Piskopiano takes about 10 to 15 minutes along a country road. It's fine if you're happy walking, but feels like a trek in the heat, with no shade. It's a beautiful spot, though a bit far out for some, with good food and wonderful staff. Don't be put off by the rooms, most people probably won't spend much time in them. We'll be back.

We've been here four times now, which probably says it all. It's a lovely family-run hotel with the kindest staff, set on the hill a little above Hersonissos. Some people might find the rooms small, but we're not there to sit in the room.

The staff made us feel like part of their little family, and they were fantastic throughout. We came in very late, and their warm smiles were a real lift after a full day of travel. The food was very good and came within 15 minutes of ordering. Drinks were well priced too, with a pint at €3.50. Our basic apartment was spotless, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the shower pressure was incredible. We had a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool. Even with the bar open until 3am every night, we couldn't hear it once we were in the apartment. Bellos is about a 15-minute walk from the beach, bars, restaurants and shops. The uphill walk back is steep, so we took a taxi a couple of times with a lot of shopping, which cost around €7. We also walked up to piscapiano, where we had some lovely meals and booked a few excursions through orange travel. We had an amazing seven-night stay and are already talking about booking again. It's the best holiday my partner and I have had, and we can't imagine anything beating it. Thanks to everyone at Bellos for making it so special.
