Maison La Mer

We stayed at Maison La Mer at the end of June, 2019, and I loved the hotel and the village. Loutra is a lovely, uncrowded provincial place, which matters a lot to me. Despite a few small drawbacks, I’d be happy to come back. The host and staff were VERY friendly and helpful. When we arrived, Giannis gave us his viber number so we could reach him whenever we needed anything. He replied quickly and tried to help with every problem. He was polite, pleasant to talk to, and speaks fluent English. The housemaids were friendly and did their jobs well: fresh snow-white linen and towels every three days, and rubbish baskets emptied daily. The beach right in front of the hotel won’t suit everyone, especially kids. It’s pebbly, with stones in the water and sea urchins. We usually walked 5 min to central Loutra beach, where the sand gives you an entry without stones. The other side of that beach is good for snorkeling, so there’s an option for different needs. The hotel looked freshly renovated inside and out, and the apartments were a nice change from typical hotel rooms. They were finely decorated, with a fully equipped kitchen for cooking, plus washing-up liquid and cloths. The mattresses were super. There was a small balcony with a sea view, furnished for morning coffee or even a family lunch, though the plastic chairs spoiled the impression a bit. The bathroom was a little small and ascetic, with a low ceiling and no shower curtain. I think a curtain would be a bad idea since it wouldn’t dry properly, so it worked better without one. Just wipe the floor after showering and there’s no problem. The boiler and plumbing worked well. There was no plastic tub for washing clothes, but the sink was huge, and we could ask the hosts for laundry service. Watch out for mosquitoes. There was one fumigation device in the apartment, though an extra one would have been handy. The part of the hotel closer to the sea has a lovely but rather unkempt inner garden. It would be fantastic if the hosts improved it, since proper landscape design matters in a place like this, and it has GREAT potential. The same goes for the other building. I’m sure more flowers and fresh grass would look great in front of it.

I was really satisfied with my stay. The staff were very friendly, and the clean rooms came with a little garden and a beautiful sea view.

The hotel cancelled our reservation 6 days!!!!! before check-in and didn’t offer an equal alternative. Very bad service. Think twice before booking.

I was very happy with the apartment. It was clean and had a great sea view, and the beach with its nice bars was close by. A wonderful place to stay! 🥰
