The town is tiny and friendly, with around 10-15 restaurants along one street, cafes by day and restaurants at night, plus a market where you can find almost anything. It's a quiet place to relax, though another town with more going on is only 10 minutes away. For the price, that's about what you get. Our room was a good size, with a small kitchen counter, fridge, working air conditioning, and tables and chairs by the door. There was no shower curtain or hairdryer, and we had no hot water in the evenings. I wasn't sure how often the room was cleaned, and the towels were changed just once during our four-day stay. They were very rough, so bring your own if you have sensitive skin or have had too much sun. Reception was empty in the evenings, so don't arrive too late to check in, especially if your phone can't make international calls.

The bathroom smelled terribly of sewage all week, and the odor filled the room each day. It made us feel sick whenever we went in. The room was old and worn, and cleanliness was a problem. We asked for fresh towels, but they were changed only once in the week. We made do with the first set by laying them out and taking care of them, then did the same with the next set we got three days later. I've never experienced anything like that. We were a couple, but the beds were singles. We're not pretentious, but we expected a double bed in an apartment or hotel. The owner only spoke to us to ask for payment, which we had to make in advance. We didn't get the much-promoted stunning view, though that wasn't what mattered to us. We just wanted a clean, tidy room with a decent double bed. They also didn't pick us up from Samos airport. The taxi cost €50 each way for two of us, which felt absurd. In our other trips to Greece, we were always picked up and dropped off, even when it was a long journey.

It was clean, but felt neglected. The taps needed servicing, and there wasn't enough cutlery or crockery.
