The owner was genuinely nice to spend time with. He shared fresh mussels and homemade ouzo, and lent me his speargun and diving belt. I’d happily have a drink with him again. Still, I’d only rent the apartment again for €50-70 a night unless the service improves a lot. The place is beautiful, but it isn’t a villa as advertised, it’s an apartment in the surrounding property. The landlord lives on the ground and first floors. The bigger bedroom, which has its own bathroom, is beside the electric water pump. A pipe and fan connect a small outbuilding to the room, so whenever anyone used water, including the irrigation system at 6 am, it sounded like I was sleeping next to the pump. The house carries sound in general. At €220 a night for two months, the service didn’t match the price. The freezer wouldn’t close, and when I raised it, I was told, “It’s how it is.” The pump ran all night. The owner said he heard it too, but told me not to call at 7 am and to fix it myself. I ended up researching how it worked in the middle of the night and trying to find the problem, despite knowing nothing about it. I travel a lot and have never had that kind of experience. The beach sunbeds were taken away two days before we left without telling us, and the outdoor sofa had been removed a week earlier, even though it was sunny and around 23 degrees the whole time.

Villa Melani is a beautiful house, surrounded by a lovely Mediterranean garden. Its private beach access is unusual for the area, and the location worked perfectly for exploring the eastern part of Lesvos. Ignatis was kind and helpful, and did everything he could to make our stay pleasant. It was a real pleasure meeting him and staying there.

I loved the atmosphere in this unique apartment, with a touch of understated luxury. The garden has ancient olive trees, cacti, and plenty more, with a lovely view over Gera Bay. We spent wonderful evenings there, and could also swim at what felt like an almost private beach. The hosts were among the friendliest, most helpful, and most hospitable I’ve met.

The beach is right in front, and the garden is both lovely and safe for children. We’re a family of four with kids aged 5 and 2, and it was a relief to let them play outside without chasing them constantly. I also enjoyed jogging by the sea along the rough road, where I could run 5 km. It was refreshing. The house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a large dining room, and sofas that can sleep two more people. It’s modern, with a huge garden, and has everything you need. The owner was polite and helpful, and had left coffee, juice, wine, beer, jams, biscuits, and other basics so we could manage our first day. It’s about a 10-15 minute drive from central Mytilene, close enough to get into town but far enough out to be quiet. A car is probably necessary. I’d especially recommend it for families.
