Santorini Paradise

Maria made sure we were looked after from the start. She was responsive, very helpful, and offered to arrange all our transfers. I’d absolutely take her up on that, since the people she works with were wonderful too. John, our porter, was another standout. He carried our bags over Oia’s twisting paths and stairs and always greeted us with a smile. Such a lovely person. The rooftop was a favorite spot each evening: we watched the caldera sunset with the wine and snacks provided every night. The cave house itself is beautiful, and the location is hard to beat. We had a great stay, and when we return, we’ll check whether it’s available before choosing our dates.

We only stayed one night, and the place had everything we needed. It was cozy and charming, and Maria, the owner, was friendly and always willing to help. Petros and the woman selling souvenirs helped us get settled on the terrace. The sunset view from there felt like something out of a story. Thanks for such a warm welcome, it was unbeatable.

Saying goodbye to Maria was harder than I expected. She welcomed us with drinks and snacks, checked that we had what we needed, and arranged our transportation and tours. I felt cared for the whole time, and we even took photos together before we left. I teared up when it was time to go. The rooftop was a dream at sunset, with snacks and drinks on offer, and the home looked just like the pictures, if anything even better in person. Helios Cave House is in a perfect spot in Oia. It was such a peaceful, romantic stay, and one of the most special experiences we’ve had.

Getting there takes a little planning: from the drop-off, you’ll walk over cobbled streets, so sturdy luggage wheels are a good idea. The entrance and courtyard are charming, though reached by a steep set of steps. Our first evening included a lovely rooftop welcome with wine and appetizers. Inside, things were as described, with a comfy bed, kitchenette, sofa, and small dining table. The amenities were great, including breakfast food, toiletries, and a spa bath. Maria was hospitable and helpful with transport and restaurant tips, and got back to us when we had trouble working out the A/C. We’d happily visit again.
