Kiki Apartments

A quiet spot with lovely views, just right for a relaxing stay. There are several coastal bathing spots nearby, and the bus stop, shops and restaurants are about 100-150 metres away. The apartment was simple but clean, tidy and well equipped. The owner was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it!

We ended up sleeping on the floor because the bed was unusable, and the air conditioning didn’t work either. The bed was almost snapped in half, with a badly bent metal frame and wood underneath that had been rebuilt or reinforced by the host, so it seemed they knew about the damage and had tried to repair it. The photos didn’t show how bad it was. We were worried that using it would break it further. The host gave us a full refund. A place to sleep is the most basic thing accommodation should provide.

The only real downside was the air conditioning. It would run only with every window and door shut, and you had to be inside to switch it on, so cooling the apartment after a day out took a while. Otherwise, it’s a great, family-run place in a good location. I loved Paleokatrista, with lots of restaurants, including some vegetarian and vegan choices. A few had gluten-free food too, though you may need to walk along a bit to find them. The staff were great and the service brilliant. I’d definitely recommend it.

This place was awful. My partner and I had booked a couple of days, excited to enjoy beautiful Palaiokritstas, but I wound up sleeping on the floor because the bed was so broken it bent. The mattress was rock hard too. The bed is the main reason you book somewhere, and this one was unusable. The AC didn’t work at all. It was set to 25°C, and the owner said that was due to a legal issue. I can’t say whether that’s true, but I know I was too hot to sleep. A pile of towels on the floor was cooler, so at least that helped a little. I’ve never had worse AC anywhere in Greece, the Balkans or the wider Mediterranean.
