Aris House

This was completely unacceptable. My boyfriend was hospitalized the day before our trip, so we couldn't come, though our friends checked in and used one of the two rooms we'd booked. We told the host what had happened and politely asked for a partial refund for just two days, given the circumstances. We understand the terms and conditions, but she came up with excuses and lies, then finally said she wouldn't refund us simply because she didn't want to. We asked for some human understanding, since someone who'd just had an operation couldn't use the booking, but found none.

I booked 2 rooms for 4 people at Aris House. Shortly before the stay, I was hospitalized and told the host I couldn't come, but that 2 friends would still arrive and use one room. I asked about a refund for the unused room, and she refused to return anything, despite being told in advance. She gave two reasons, which I believe were false. First, she said the booking platform wouldn't let her cancel one room. Booking support told us there was no issue on their end and that a refund was possible if the host agreed. Then she said the payment was complete and the receipt had been printed, so a refund wasn't possible. We understood there could be taxes after printing the receipt, so we asked for a partial refund instead. The payment had already been taken because of her error. When I asked whether we could pay by card, thinking that would happen on arrival, she processed the payment straight away. That's a minor detail, but it was frustrating that she used her own mistake as an excuse. When we challenged what she'd said, she admitted a refund was possible but said she didn't want to give one. She also argued that the room had been left empty because it was “reserved” for us, even though she'd been told before we arrived that it would be free. The city was full of guests during our dates. She said people had asked for rooms, but that she hadn't given them our “reserved” room. That may have been another lie: my friends, who used one room, didn't get a key to the second, and said the hotel was completely full. There was no hot water during peak hours either. JUST DON’T GO

I stayed here this year. It's a quiet place, and the host is very friendly and open to a chat. I highly recommend it, and I'd come back to Airis House anytime.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very clean and near everything, with air conditioning and a TV. Sofia, the host, was really friendly and helped us find a taxi for the trip back to the airport. Thank you for everything, Sofia. We'll miss you!
