They rent cars and scooters too. When I returned, they tried to charge me for a scratch that was already there. They asked for a video they already had, and if I hadn’t had my own copy, they would have kept the 300 euro deposit. They probably don’t list the rental place on Google Maps because of these shady practices.

The paperwork was dodgy too. They gave us invoices listing bike rental and private tour, neither of which was what we’d booked. We also couldn’t find the company on Google Maps. We’re thinking of reporting them to the Greek tourist board. We rented a car from their port counter, which looked like the biggest one, so we thought they’d be reliable. They said the car could fit four people and four suitcases, but it couldn’t. They kept pushing the bags in and broke one of our suitcases. The car was extremely old and had a broken brake. Going uphill, it slid backwards every time we stopped and started. Five minutes later we decided it was too dangerous and went back for another car. They reluctantly gave us one, but it was just as old. They’d also left the tank less than a quarter full. Luckily we noticed early and took a photo as proof. Avoid this company if you’re renting a car in Santorini.

We stayed two nights. The room was clean, and there were towels and soap. They can also provide beach towels if you need them. Transfers are included, which was great. The location worked well. There’s a bakery and scooter rental a minute’s walk away, and the black beach is another three minutes along.

The beach really was lovely and only a two-minute walk away, but the room had no blanket and wasn’t very clean. When I asked, they said they didn’t provide a blanket. I figured it was hot enough that I might manage without one. After the beach, I went to shower and found no shampoo, shower gel, hair dryer, toilet paper, or towel. There was basically nothing to use except water. I’d paid 40-45 euros a night for that. I thought I’d ask the owners, but they were nowhere around when I returned. The next day I asked his wife for shower gel, shampoo, or at least soap, and she said they had none. I felt seriously ripped off. I’d already paid for three nights and couldn’t get my money back, even though I saw much better and cheaper hotels while looking for another place. I found the room through a man at the port, who approached tourists coming off the boat and showed me a brochure for his “wonderful” place. He kept saying it was a great location, just two minutes from the beach. His sister drove us to the hotel after I paid. He also said they only had one room left, so I had to decide quickly, and claimed other hotels were booked. Stay away from this place.

A taxi and car rental scam. The van drops you about 20 meters short of your destination and tells you to walk the rest, apparently so they can keep to a tight route with 20 other people.
