Planos Beach Hotel

The hotel was good and the reception staff were helpful, but the bar felt sterile and had little atmosphere. At 11pm, when service stopped, they pulled down the shutters and turned off the lights while people were still sitting and drinking at the tables. Since it's right on the beach, there isn't much light around, and that could have caused an accident.

The rooms are nice and the beach is great, but expect to pay 20€ each day for two loungers and a side table on the beach in front of the resort. Pool loungers are free, though there are far too few of them. The snack bar has very limited choices, and the beach bar stays closed until 6:00pm, opening after the beach has closed. The photos are misleading on that point. You can get a drink at the pool bar, but it's a little trek to reach it. The food was decent, though sometimes hit or miss. Staff are lovely, but they fade into the background. The place feels a bit beige and boring, and it could offer that over-the-top service easily, but doesn't. After spending 1000’s on the holiday, the limited openings and choices make you feel pushed to spend more.

Apart from the taxi service, we had a great time and I'd recommend the hotel. It's right on the beach and close to the main road, with little souvenir shops, restaurants and bars nearby. The food was good, and the staff were very friendly and hardworking. The taxi driver they used was incredibly rude and angry with us. We called for a cab and were told it would take 20 minutes. After waiting almost 20 minutes without seeing one pass, a random taxi stopped in front of us, so we got in, thinking little of it. It was an honest mistake anyone could make. The main driver, who I think may have been the company boss, was waiting when we got back and yelled at us. I'd already apologized to the driver on the phone, and we even offered to pay for the taxi, but he refused and kept going on at us. It seemed to be about the money, and the whole thing felt unnecessary and very unprofessional. The hotel itself was very nice, just avoid the taxi service they offer.

We had a wonderful week and have just got back to the UK. The room was perfectly located, and everyone was friendly from check-in through to leaving. Thanks to you all. The only letdown was getting a sunbed by the pool or terrace. You have to be up very early to beat the once-a-year visitors who put towels down and leave them until the afternoon before actually using them.
