Blue Art Caves

The cave-style layout made for a comfortable bed and a good night’s sleep. The room was spacious and tastefully furnished, with what seemed like a recent renovation, and daily cleaning. There was also a sofa bed in the lounge, and although there was a TV, we didn’t use it. A private indoor hot tub let us relax away from the sun and wind. Catherine’s other nearby room has an outdoor tub too, though that area could use better rain cover. The black fabric roof didn’t keep the rain off, and the seats got wet. The hot tub didn’t feel warm enough on day one, but the bubbles were relaxing, and there didn’t seem to be a problem later. Catherine contacted us on WhatsApp the day before arrival and stayed responsive to our many questions. She was welcoming and service-minded, met us at the post office, and walked us and Admir down a few stairs to the room. Admir carried our bags, and we tipped him at the end. The last 10-15 stairs can be slippery when wet, so take care. Catherine explained the amenities and house rules, and gave us a map and recommendations. Breakfast was brought to the room every day, and Catherine accommodated our dietary needs. We also appreciated the daily bottled water, Nespresso capsules, toiletries, slippers, an extra duvet when we asked, and an extra adapter she provided. A little dairy creamer for milky coffee would have been a nice addition. The internet was adequate, though there was an island outage on the first day, and the connection was still weak after it came back the next day. 4G could also be patchy inside, especially in the bedroom tucked into the cave layout. The dehumidifier worked continuously if emptied once or twice, but it wasn’t fully quiet, so you might want to switch it off at night. We had a lovely stay and recommend Blue Art Caves.

Catherine went above and beyond when our bags were delayed because of a tight connection in Athens, and she was quick to answer questions, suggest restaurants, store our luggage, and arrange transport. She also helped us book things, including a catamaran sail we especially loved. The Lunar Sea Suite itself was gorgeous, with a hot tub, lovely views, and delicious breakfast every day. A few stairs lead down to it, but valet luggage service made getting there manageable, while the setting gave us some privacy for the tub and views. Daily cleaning, fresh breakfast, and refills of coffee and water made it feel like a five-star hotel. I can’t recommend it enough.

The suite was beautifully decorated, spotless, and had every comfort we needed. Admir warmly welcomed us and carried our cases to the accommodation. Each morning we had a fresh, delicious selection of breakfast options, and the hot tub and caldera views were unforgettable. Catherine was kind, helpful, and attentive to every detail. Nothing felt like too much trouble. Staying here in the heart of Oia was the perfect way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We couldn’t have asked for a better visit and highly recommend it.

The room was fine, and the Jacuzzi was the best part, though I had to press the button again every three minutes to turn it back on. I was given three towels, one hand towel, one for the Jacuzzi, and one for showering. They said towels weren’t serviced daily, so I was told to hang them up to dry. The place is at the very bottom of the Caldera, and the steps are very uneven and treacherous in places. This isn’t the Airbnb’s fault, but cats roam around the city unchecked and soil the area. That attracts biting flies. I came home a day early because it just wasn’t a good experience for me.
