Maryloujohn Villas

Everything felt like a dream. The place was spotless and peaceful, with a gorgeous view and a cave-style bathroom that added to the atmosphere. John was thoughtful throughout, even collecting us from the port. On our last morning he was ready to get up at 5am and drive us back so we could catch the first ferry out of the city. My friend and I felt completely safe on our girls' trip, and the location worked especially well for anyone trying to avoid steps.

John made us feel at home from the start. He was warm and welcoming, and took us to and from the port, including a very early trip. The hotel sits right along the central street, which was ideal. My friend and I loved staying here and would happily return. 10/10.

My uncle was flying in from Canada, but his flight was delayed by 9-10 hours. I contacted the owner from Canada to explain that my uncle would need a late check-in. He quoted €20, which I agreed to, then became disrespectful and threatened to refuse my uncle entry because the wait was “too much” for him. My uncle had no control over the plane delay. This is disgraceful hospitality, and I hope the business is shut down.

We had reserved and paid for a room, and had told the hotel we would arrive after midnight. When we got there, the owner was extremely rude and said he'd given our room to someone else. He told us there was no point coming back the next day, that the room would not be available, and that we would not be let in. I offered to return at 8am, but got the same answer. He also refused to refund our money. This was the day flights were delayed after a cyberattack on all the airlines. Five of us ended up sleeping on the street. I tried every way I could to talk it through, but he treated me terribly. The whole ordeal was upsetting, and even one star feels too generous. I can't recommend this hotel.
