That windmill view is unreal, and even on a day with bad weather there are plenty of nearby places to explore. We spent three winter days on Santorini and staying in an old windmill felt like stepping out of time. It had all the comforts we needed, and the great Greek food went perfectly with a relaxed break. We’d love to come back in summer for the volcano trek and the beaches. A lovely choice in any season if you’re after something different.

We picked this place because it was just down the street from the Santorini Gem wedding venue we were attending. It was such a fun experience staying in a windmill, and we loved the porch and having coffee by the jacuzzi in the morning. The host left water and fruit, and the rooms had air conditioning. The bed on the middle floor wasn’t the most comfortable, though I still slept well. It’s not the handiest base if you’ll be going to Fira or Oia often. We needed several taxis and Ubers, which got expensive, so a car or ATV would be a good idea. The wifi barely worked during most of our stay, but the host responded quickly and tried to sort it out.

I came in early April and found the island sunny and peaceful. The mill has been completely renovated, but being inside it still makes you feel connected to nature and the passage of time. It’s well ventilated, so I think it would be worth trying even in the height of summer. Beautiful!

From the room under the roof, you can look out from windows all around the bed and see the whole island in every direction. I’ve never stayed anywhere quite like it, or anywhere more romantic and exclusive.

A magical place to stay. The mill has been completely renovated and is well equipped, with a jacuzzi, bathroom, kitchen, and at least three bedrooms.
