Chrisanthi Villa

Pyrgos was a lovely base, quieter and less packed with tourists than other towns on the island, and I truly hope we can return. Our family had an amazing stay at Villa Chrisanthi. The house was clean, beautiful, and very comfortable, with breathtaking sunset views from the balcony. Alex and his family were wonderful, helping with transfers, bags, and local advice. Breakfast, made by Alex's mother and served for everyone to share each morning, was legendary.

We’ll be back. Chtrisanti was so polite and brought us a wonderful breakfast every morning. The house is a beautifully renewed, authentic traditional island home, in Pyrgos old town and away from the crowded caldera.

The quiet mornings were a treat. My wife and I would walk around Pyrgos with espressos, and the castle is worth climbing to if you want the best sunrise spot. We also ate well: Rosemary's friendly staff served our favorite meals of the trip, and Johnnie Cafe was our go-to for coffee before breakfast. The villa was the highlight of our time in Greece. Alex and his family were gracious hosts, and Alex helped us arrange a ferry transfer. With the port in chaos from construction, that was a smart call. He also arranged for a donkey to carry our luggage up the steep hill, a charming and welcome help, especially since the villa takes quite an uphill climb. Keep the ascent in mind if anyone in your group has limited mobility. Once there, Alex talked us through restaurants, car rentals, and boat tours, and was happy to book things or look up more information. Breakfast from Chrisanthi and her daughter was another daily highlight: a generous spread of Greek pastries, eggs, garden fruit, fresh orange juice, coffee, and more. Pyrgos made for a peaceful break between days of exploring Santorini. There was little traffic and fewer tourists than in the island's city centers. The villa used to be a wine-making cave, and its dark, quiet rooms gave me some of the best sleep I've ever had. From the courtyard balcony, we could see the volcano and famous sunsets without dealing with the crowds in Oia. I can't recommend Chrisanthi Villa enough. Alex and his family made our stay all the more memorable.

From the roof balcony, you can see the sunshine, and the location is perfect. The owner was kind and helpful, and breakfast came with plenty of variety and tasted excellent. I'm sure I'll recommend the villa to everyone. Thank you 🙏
