Pyrgos was a highlight for me. It’s one of the few hillside towns in Santorini where locals still live, and that came through in the atmosphere. I loved wandering its little streets, cozy restaurants, and tucked-away historical spots. At the Historical Villa Santa Croce, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and went well beyond what I expected. As a chef, I especially valued getting to know traditional food through local restaurants, then learning and cooking those dishes in a beautiful traditional Greek kitchen. The wood oven and fresh market ingredients made simple, pure flavors I won’t forget. The villa has a peaceful setting and rustic, minimal architecture that fits right in. The location has lots of character and stunning views, while still being close to the things you might want to explore around the island. The history and charm made the stay feel magical from the moment I arrived. Evenings on the rooftop terrace were special, watching the sun set over the island as time seemed to slow down. For a peaceful visit with fewer crowds, I’d suggest early September, when tourist season is winding down. If you want an authentic, memorable stay in Santorini, I can’t recommend the Historical Villa Santa Croce enough. It’s a rare place with beauty, history, and heart.

Pyrgos is a charming traditional village, with cozy cafés, real Greek restaurants, and picturesque little streets. It’s calm and authentic, and the beach is only a short 7 minute drive away. We loved having breakfast each morning on the terrace, with spanakopita from the bakery next door and a breathtaking view of Santorini. We also cooked with the traditional green stone oven, and the flavors were unforgettable. The villa has kept its original Greek architecture, so we felt immersed in Greece the whole time. It’s still very comfortable and luxurious, with a pool, jacuzzi, two kitchens, a terrace, and a bathtub overlooking the island. Our host shared its story: it once belonged to a wealthy local family and was carefully rebuilt based on neighbors’ memories of how it used to look. That made the stay feel especially authentic and memorable.

Our family spent 10 unforgettable days on Santorini, and Villa Santa Croce made the trip feel like a fairy tale. In the heart of Pyrgos’s charming medieval village, it brings together Renaissance architecture and Cycladic charm. The hospitality made us feel at home in a private retreat, and we loved relaxing by the cave pool and taking in the breathtaking sunset views. Seeing the island’s history and culture through Santa Croce was the best highlight of our trip. It was a beautiful journey into Santorini’s past, with world-class comfort. If you’re after a different kind of stay on Santorini, Historical Villa Santa Croce is a must.

Pyrgos was a fortified settlement in the 1600s, built to protect the island from pirate raids. Villa Santa Croce Santorini sits within that history. It’s a four-level, 240 m² property with five appointed bedrooms, accommodating up to ten guests, and is presented as a leading choice for luxury group retreats and authentic travel in Pyrgos.

The interior pool was a great place to cool off during the day, and the outdoor jacuzzi made Santorini nights under the stars feel special. The whole place feels warm and personal, with every corner cared for. Villa Santa Croce is an intimate hidden gem, with a rustic, typically Greek design that makes you feel at home. If you want comfort, authenticity, and heart, this is the place.
