Erotokritos Luxury City Suites

The location is great and it's quiet at night. The bed was very comfy, and I liked the decor. I just wasn't sure the place was worth the price. The terrace hot tub is the main feature, but it's awkward to get in and out of, and water spills everywhere. The stairs down to the bedroom have the same issue with their last few steps poorly lit. I took a tumble there and hurt my foot. It could have been cleaner too, there was hair on the floor and black water marks in the upstairs shower corners.

Some nearby bars were loud enough that noise carried into certain rooms, so the location felt like a mixed bag. It's convenient if you want city activities close by, but it made the stay average for me, more suited to an active weekend. The apartment facilities were okay and everything worked. I had a problem with the bathtub, which Ilias fixed, though other issues I ran into weren't ultimately resolved despite his trying. Some days there was no hot water, but I don't mind cold showers. The kitchen could use proper kitchen knives and bowls. I stayed ten days and missed having bedroom furniture like a wardrobe for my clothes. I didn't raise it with the host because I wasn't sure what he could do with the limited space. That made it feel more like a weekend place than somewhere for a ten-day holiday. For the price, I also expected not to find bugs in the apartment and the residence's amenities. Ilias was welcoming and helpful before I arrived, and I appreciated the tips he gave me. But the price and quality didn't feel like luxury to me, and neither did the customer service. When I got stuck outside the building at 2 am, it was good that he woke up and opened the front door. Still, I wish he'd shown me again how it worked or checked whether my card was working, rather than saying, “you are the only one who I got that problem.” That left me feeling really bad, especially on holiday.

The host, Ilias, was very kind and waited for us even though we arrived late on our first night. He stayed available throughout our visit, and when we left he gave us a gift so we could take a little piece of Crete home. The location is beautiful and well placed, and everything was comfortable and clean. We'll definitely stay here again when we return to Crete.

I loved the peaceful backyard, a lovely spot to read a book and have a cup of coffee. The room was clean and nicely decorated, and the place is right in the middle of the old city, close to lots of attractions. Do recommend it.
