We were really happy with the staff, who were friendly and helpful, gave us good food recommendations, and let us check in much earlier than planned. There’s no parking on site because of the location, but we parked overnight in a large parking bay a block past the restaurant. It cost us 10euro and saved us the stress of looking for parking, which is virtually impossible in this area. We stayed just one night, and the room was very clean. It also had a little stoop where we could relax with a drink and look out over the harbour. The location was great for the harbour, restaurants, and old town shops. Location, location, location! Highly recommended.

Faros Beach Hotel is in a handy spot for the harbour, old town, and Fortezza Castle. The beach is walkable, with lots of bars along the way for a cocktail, and the boat trips are right on your doorstep. We heard comments about noise, but closing the balcony doors and using the air conditioning meant it didn’t keep us awake. Our room was small and compact, with a lovely sea-view balcony where we watched Rethymno come and go, drank ouzo, and got morning sun. The en suite was tiny but adequate, and housekeeping was excellent. The owners were friendly and helpful. If you want an ultra-modern hotel with a pool to sit by all day, this may not be for you. But if you like a clean hotel with character and want to see the local sights, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

The location is perfect, with easy access to the beach and the best bars and restaurants. The hotel really needs renovating, though. Our bed was terrible and very uncomfortable, and the blankets were dirty. The AC and fridge were also very noisy. On top of that, management’s attitude wasn’t appropriate: “you received what you payed for”.

The hotel has new owners and has been renovated. It’s right in the heart of the old town, with a view over the old harbour, and the location is perfect. The staff are welcoming and helpful, and the double room with a sea view was comfortable and had everything we needed. Thanks for making our stay even more special 🥂☀️🏝
