Flisvos Beach Studios (ex Flisvos Beach Apartments)

Good hotel.

The view from our room was the only positive, though we had paid for it. The food and service were bad, the beds were bad, the cleaning was lousy, and the staff were surly. I’d give it 0 stars if I could.

The positives are the helpful staff and a location that can be considered good. The beach is a bit far from the city, though it’s across a busy road, and the local BeachBoy will bring drinks from the bar. That’s where it ends. The food wasn’t much, and even though half board was included in our trip, we went to nearby taverns to eat. The rooms are outdated, with old, ugly furniture. We were unlucky to have a street lamp and a kitchen ventilation outlet by our window, and there was a strange humming all night. When we tried to sort it out, the hotel owner wouldn’t answer the delegate’s phone. Just awful, never again.

There are lots of good restaurants on the same Sri Lanka. The hotel itself is simple but clean, and the staff are friendly. The food is pretty ordinary and exactly the same every day, so it gets monotonous.
