We spent two nights at the Mediterranean Hotel in Rhodes over New Year’s. The location was nice, and the staff were generally friendly and willing to help. Still, the room care fell short, especially for what we paid, almost twice the rate of other hotels. When we entered, there were no tea or coffee facilities, just a few cookies. After our 3-year-old daughter had an accident during the night, we asked for housekeeping. They rearranged the beds and emptied the bins, but didn’t change the sheets or towels, and left rubbish on the table. We expected more attention to cleanliness and the details in the room. The hotel has potential, but its service, particularly housekeeping, needs improvement.

Breakfast was the letdown for me. There weren’t many choices for special diets, and the omelette they did offer tasted quite bad. The Mediterranean Hotel is clean and convenient, with great views and easy access to Rhodes’ highlights. It’s right on the beach and close to the Old Town. Staff were welcoming, and my modern, comfortable room was on the small side. The bathroom was tiny, though the spacious shower helped make up for that.

The rooms have been refurbished and look stylish and comfortable. The hotel is clean and modern, right on the beach, and within walking distance of both new and old Rhodes town. The reception, restaurant, and shared areas look dated, though. I was there in winter, so I can’t say anything about the pool area. Reception and restaurant staff were very polite.

The room was always cleaned well, and I really liked having a balcony. The hotel sits right by the beach, with shops and plenty of restaurants nearby, and it’s a nice walk to the old town. Everyone was so friendly and made the hospitality feel real. Special thanks to service manager Nikos for taking care of our little requests and making the whole crew’s stay special. Greetings from Poland! 🇵🇱🇬🇷

If you’re coming to Rhodes on a discounted large group contract, you may end up here. For everyone else, I’d go somewhere else. I spent three long weeks here this summer. I loved Rhodes, but not this hotel, and after staying in plenty of hotels, I felt I had to make time to warn people. It’s more like a “fine for the price” three-star place with grand ideas of being four or five stars. Maybe they paid off the local hotel rating people? The few positives were being near the beach, the outdoor restaurant seating, and the discounted rate for large groups. Those positives were outweighed by a lot. Room cleaning was inconsistent and unpredictable. Front desk staff could be hostile at times. A female colleague in my group was treated much worse by the male manager than I was, and I heard him speak to her in a condescending way. Hmm. They kept adding miserly little charges for things that should be free. The biggest complaint from our group was the refusal to give free tap water at lunch and dinner. They have a working water and juice machine at breakfast, but turn it off afterwards so they can upsell. Several students asked different waiters for tap water and were repeatedly refused. I think Greek law requires free tap water on request, but they don’t care. The reply disputing this claim is a total lie to keep them from being investigated. They also wouldn’t let me bring in sealed water bottles I’d brought myself. To me, that policy sums up how management views guests, more as cash cows than people with basic human rights. Watch out for what I call the “inferior double room,” a tiny corner closet that isn’t shown in the online photos. We’d paid for the much larger “Superior double room,” advertised with those photos and square footage on the hotel’s website. See if you can find my picture of the smaller room online. Spoiler, you can’t. I barely managed to talk or demand my way into the last normal room available, but several people in our group were made to take the downgrade without any price reduction. They can sell a tiny room if they want, but it should be a separate, cheaper category with its own photos online. Again, their reply is a lie meant to avoid a government investigation into this deceptive practice.
