Parthenon Hotel

The staff surprised us with a bottle of white wine and two glasses on our last evening, a lovely touch that made the trip especially memorable. The hotel is only steps from the beach, with nice restaurants close by. Our room was beautiful and spotless, and it was cleaned daily. Reception staff were warm and professional throughout. We left with wonderful memories and would be very happy to return.

We stayed here in September and found the location really handy. The beach is right nearby, and the town centre, old town and other beaches are walkable, with anywhere we wanted to go no more than about 20 minutes away. Everyone we met on staff was friendly and welcoming. The modern reception has a bar with a good range of drinks, plus free wine and juice for guests. The room felt fair for the price. A couple of downsides: construction noise woke us around 7-8am on nearly every day, though it sounds temporary. Breakfast is limited and doesn't show off the town's food, but at €5 it's convenient if you just want something quick. The air conditioning unit, inside and on the balcony, was dusty and dirty, so we decided against paying extra to use it.

For €35, this worked well as a place to rest for a few hours before our very late flight. It's easy to find, and reception made us feel welcome. The room was fine for one night, but I wouldn't choose it for a week. There were stains on the curtains and bedsheets, and the balcony glass was smashed. It suited our short stop, and at that price I can't really complain.

We paid for a week in one room for our family of four, but the hotel didn't give us the room we had been promised and split us between two rooms. The first rooms were filthy. My youngest daughter and I were put in a small single room with a broken pull-out couch made up as a bed, a dirty shower and broken tiles. My husband and other daughter had a room with a filthy bathroom, a dirty balcony covered in cobwebs and hair, and a dirty counter and shower. We were moved again, but that bathroom had no shower door and cleaners were still working when we entered. After going elsewhere for two or three days, we returned to find someone else's clothes and suitcases in our room. We still had our key and belongings with us, and our family friends had checked out and left their key at reception. When we reported the mix-up, the receptionist said we had left without telling anyone. She yelled that the manager refused to speak with us when we asked for him. We were then put in a room outside the hotel with one double bed and two couches, which she called a family room. When I explained that they had no right to give away the room we had paid for, she shouted at me to leave and told me to complain as much as I wanted. She also got angry with other customers who had room misunderstandings. A terrible experience. Don't book here.
