The pool and bar were the highlight for us, always clean and fantastic. Staff were accommodating and showed us to our rooms. The location is handy for nearby restaurants, and the beach has lovely sunsets. It's about a 15-minute walk to a sandy beach. We hired a car to see different beaches and the old town around the island. The room was clean when we arrived, but very basic. There were no lamps, indoor table or chairs, so we brought one of the outdoor chairs in when we needed it. Kitchen utensils were scarce. The outdoor chair cushions were torn and a little mouldy. After four days we had to ask for fresh towels, and the room wasn't cleaned apart from one bedding change toward the end of our stay. The bathroom was okay, though hot water in the shower was very limited and the drain smelled, noticeable but not unbearable. We mostly used the room to sleep, and it did serve that purpose. If you're not fussy, you'll probably manage fine, but don't expect much luxury.

The bar and restaurant were lovely, with delicious food and great staff. I'd definitely go back for that. The rooms let the place down, though. They need more attention inside, especially when it comes to cleaning. My wife is scared of spiders, and there were webs in pretty much every corner. A bit more effort in the rooms would make them look much better.

The pool and bar area looked clean and recently refurbished, which was one of the few good things. We also ended up taking in a lovely wandering cat, Daphne, and got quite attached to her, feeding her proper cat food and cat-friendly milk. We know Corfu well and could spend our days elsewhere. We still love the island and want to return soon, but we wouldn't stay at Kamari Apartments again, even if it were the only option. There were six of us in June. We expected two doubles and a twin, but were given two twins and one double. Two rooms were ready; the other was still being cleaned. The bar manager kept saying it would take five minutes, and told us to wait by the pool and have a drink. In the end it took three and a half hours. The pool bar atmosphere wasn't for us: just modern pop and dance covers, with no variety. Also, they only take cash, not cards. When room 26 was finally ready, we found a rotten bathroom door frame, bare wires hanging from ceiling light fittings, a bad smell outside from a clogged drain, and a broken wardrobe left by the front door full of chemicals and spare linens for the cleaners. We asked to move, though the manager wasn't pleased, and then settled in. Room 22 had old mattresses piled on the grass by the cleaners' hut, no shower curtain or door, and a serious mosquito problem. The upside-down light shades seemed to give the mosquitoes somewhere to hide during the day, and they bit us badly at night. We bought every repellent we could find and eventually got rid of them after a few days. Without a shower curtain, water flooded the bathroom, so we used towels to mop it up, about three towels each time we washed, twice a day in the June heat. Room service came only every two or three days, replacing one stained, worn towel with another. Housekeeping also banged on the door at 8:30 a.m. each time. In the evenings we hoped to sit quietly with a drink on the balcony, but loud music and dance beats from the bar often drowned that out. Some guests' racist views were also hard to avoid. Our lead booker contacted the Jet 2 rep, who spoke to the manager. The manager came to apologise and offered us a €20 bar voucher for the trouble. We declined. I've since heard the usual full-time managers or owners were away on holiday, so I can't say how Kamari apartments would be with them there. The staff filling in for them clearly weren't up to the job.

We loved our holiday here and would happily return. The rooms are basic, but fine, and we really enjoyed the pool and the food and drinks at the bar. It's about a five-minute walk to the beach. There are plenty of cats and dogs around to keep animal lovers entertained. Eva, Georgia, Leo and all the cleaners were exceptionally kind and helpful.

I was a bit unsure after reading the reviews, but my first impressions have been good. The room is clean and tidy, and the pool area looks fantastic. So far, I'm impressed.
