Voca Hotel & Suites

The service made it hard to relax. Harris was particularly rude and acted in a way I found strangely inappropriate toward my girlfriend. He also seemed fixated on the towels and visibly angry over even minor marks, which seemed bizarre to me since normal use leaves some wear. The other staff weren’t much better, with an unfriendly, rude attitude. It felt like they were hostile if you didn’t clean and service your own room, and even a tiny bit of dirt brought out an attitude. The room and location, on the other hand, were great. We couldn’t ask for much better there, and although planes flew overhead near the airport, they didn’t bother us at all. If management fixed the service problems, this hotel could easily be five stars.

The planes pass about 50 metres overhead every 10 minutes, and the noise is unbearable outside and even inside because the room is poorly insulated. Light was also an issue: the room was bright at 5 a.m. and woke us up. The owner made us uncomfortable. He was mean, kept pushing boat trips and scooters, and tested our knowledge of the island as if we were children. We couldn’t understand why he never addressed issues in other comments, but he wouldn’t admit when he was wrong. After three days, we politely asked to have our room cleaned because the bed had been made but the floor hadn’t been cleaned. He said we were lying because he checked the bedrooms himself every day. When we asked for pool towels, he said we couldn’t have any because our room didn’t have a jacuzzi. When we arrived, he said he was a nutritionist for six months of the year and that breakfast was incredible and very healthy. It was horrible: frozen mini croissants, frozen sausage pies, and overcooked eggs swimming in oil. Some fruit was okay, but other pieces tasted rotten. This is probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

We were so happy with our stay and the hospitality from the Voca Hotel team. The staff were very kind, the room service was amazing, and breakfast was amazing too. Thank you, Voca!

The hotel is perfectly located, five minutes from the beach with a mini mart right behind it. The rooms were clean and breakfast had a great variety. Harris and the Voca team gave impeccable customer service, always helpful, polite, and courteous. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Santorini.
