Magma Resort Santorini

Our only complaint was the limited dinner menu at the resort's single dining area. Compared with the seafood options even small island restaurants often have, Magma's restaurant only served shrimp tacos and a rather small sea bass fillet. Apart from that, my family and I were very well looked after during our four nights in Santorini. The staff were unusually attentive and hospitable, and the modern, comfortable rooms had a lovely plunge pool where my daughter could splash during the hot afternoon. The pool in the Magma suite had a section at just the right depth for her to stand. The Concierge also worked hard to arrange our trip to nearby Anafi, a fairly remote island that isn't a standard destination. It was an incredible outing and made the Santorini trip feel like a real chance to explore.

Breakfast was one of our favorite parts, with Greek products, fresh tropical fruit, and plenty of other choices each morning. The rooms were spotless every day, and the staff were consistently kind and ready to help. The hotel itself is stunning, with lovely views, elegant spaces, and an atmosphere that made us relax right away. From the warm welcome to the professional service, the whole stay surpassed our expectations. One of our most memorable stays in Santorini. We'd recommend it for a luxurious, relaxing getaway and can't wait to return.

The hotel is clean overall, and the buildings and facilities are lovely, but poor communication, transport, and some housekeeping and food issues made it hard for me to recommend. Our top-floor jacuzzi room was spacious and clean, with a nice view, though the many stairs were a lot. I'm not sure whether it was a Globalist perk upgrade. At check-in nobody explained breakfast times, the shuttle, or where facilities were. I later found the shuttle schedule at the desk, tucked away facing the wall, and photographed its QR code. When we tried to use it from town, the code didn't work. The hotel didn't reply to our message, so we paid 45 euros for a ride back. When we told the desk, they were rude and dismissive, and said we should have messaged them, even though we had. Only then did they explain that the right contact number was different from the one on the paper. Our concerns about not receiving facility information were shrugged off too. They also didn't tell us that the shuttle to the beach club left us paying another 70 euros for a chair. Since the shuttles don't run often, we were then stuck there for five hours or had to pay another 45 euros to return. Housekeeping was hit or miss. A housekeeper came while we were in the room, seemed annoyed, and asked when to come back. We said we'd leave in a couple of hours and just wanted water bottles for then. She said she'd bring them later because of the stairs, but six hours later there was still no water. Fruit left before we arrived was never cleared and molded during our stay, and they didn't refill the tips or cotton pads. Breakfast was basic and good, but the same limited selection got boring by day three. Dinner was tasty and the main dishes were nicely presented, but they were out of my mocktail and replaced it without asking or telling me. For a moment I worried I'd drunk alcohol. Lunch and room service were very poor: our so-called burgers barely resembled burgers and came on torn pita, which felt like a scam. The gyro chicken was dry and looked days old, then reheated. The outdoor pool overlooks the area but was very cold; the indoor pool was a bit heated and a nice change. WiFi kept cutting out and was poor, so I wouldn't recommend it if you need reliable internet. We did have a good stay in some ways, but after reading other reviews, the communication problems seem persistent and should have been addressed. Combined with the location and transport issues, I can't recommend the hotel.

Dinner at Magma Resort was one of our best meals in Santorini. The dishes were creative, the wine pairing was excellent, and service was impeccable, with real care in the presentation and flavors. Check-in was smooth, and the spa facilities were incredible. The resort exceeded our expectations and is highly recommended for a luxury stay.
