Palm Bay Hotel Sissi

We tried this restaurant for lunch twice. There was plenty of food, and on my second visit my meal was very tasty. My wife asked for Parmezan with her spaghetti bolegnese but was ignored, and she found the dish tasteless. Both visits, the staff seemed surly and impatient with customers. They got irritated even when a menu item wasn't available. We won't be back.

We booked this hotel at the last minute and got a good deal. It's in a scenic spot, with a flower and lemon tree garden and just a short walk to the sea. The rooms are well kept and looked after each day. The buffet has a range of choices, many of them local dishes, and most of the food was fine. The pool was clean, with lots of shade from the palm trees. The one downside for me was the music playing over the speakers all day. I found it tiring.

The natural setting around Palm Bay Hotel in Sissi, Crete is beautiful, but one waitress's behavior left me feeling deeply uncomfortable at the end of my stay. She shouted at me and spoke in a rude, aggressive way, with no apparent politeness or professionalism. It spoiled what could have been a peaceful holiday. Breakfast was disappointing too, with little variety or freshness, and it wasn't tasty. I hope the management addresses this so other guests don't have the same experience.

The hotel is in a great location, which was the only good thing for me. Breakfast and dinner were the same every day, and the ingredients seemed poor quality. The rooms weren't cleaned properly: they changed the sheets and towels, but never mopped the floor, and there were cobwebs on the bedside shelf. If you use the place only to sleep and go out on trips, you might manage. I've never stayed in such a neglected hotel.
