Armonia Guest House Skiathos

For the price, this was a better deal than anywhere else we found for the same dates. The place is close to the center but in a quiet area, with a dedicated parking spot if you rent a vehicle. The rooms were clean and the furniture well chosen. I like a firm mattress, so I had no issue with it. Staff were very helpful with advice, including restaurant suggestions, and Alexandria kindly lent us umbrellas for trips to the north side of Skiathos. There were a few annoying problems. The bathroom had no rack for shower gel or shampoo and no wall fitting for the shower head, small things that could be fixed with a 10-15 euro investment. There were no mosquito nets, so we bought a repellent device for 5-6 euro and tablets to use in it. The bed base was made of wooden slats that weren’t fixed in place. One fell out while we were sleeping and made a loud noise, probably because I toss and turn a lot before falling asleep. I’m not very picky and have seen much worse, but fixing it wouldn’t be a major expense and would improve the impression. Wi-Fi was almost nonexistent, and cellular data was slow too, probably because of the many buildings around. It wasn’t ideal, though I can live with it. Just be prepared.

Armonia Guest House was very clean, from the spotless rooms to the well-kept shared areas. The location was ideal, close to both the beach and town, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic, peaceful, comfortable stay and would highly recommend it.

What we appreciated most was being right in central Skiathos town, the warm welcome and guidance from a very kind employee, and the umbrella they lent us for the beach. It helped if you didn’t want to rent one for the whole day. They also often took out the trash and changed our sheets and towels. Still, we were very dissatisfied and felt the room wasn’t worth the money. We’ve paid less for much better conditions elsewhere in Greece. We chose this based on good Booking reviews, then saw the ratings here after arrival. Some positive reviews may be fake or may be for another room or building. Our Booking reservation was cancelled before check-in, possibly to avoid bad reviews or fees to the site. The Booking photos didn’t reflect what we found, and we should have looked more closely. The bathroom was tiny. Our balcony faced another guest’s bathroom window, and we could hear some noise. The view was of a nearby building under construction, directly across from the balcony. Mosquitoes were a problem, with no net on the bathroom window and lots of dead mosquitoes crushed on the uncleaned bathroom walls. Wi-Fi didn’t work. We asked about it and were assured there was no reason we shouldn’t have internet, but we still had none. The air conditioning wasn’t great, though it sort of did the job in the July heat. The fridge made noise, but that happens. We could hear every sound from the hallway through the gap under the door, though we aren’t light sleepers. The room had been renovated cheaply, and from the first day we had trouble with the sink and the towel holder felt loose. They should present each room and its conditions more fairly, and perhaps set prices by room. Guests have different expectations.

The room was very small, dark, and not very comfortable. If other guests are noisy, you’ll hear everything.
