Casa de Rosa Apartments

Maria deserves a mention, the daily housekeeping was fabulous and everything was clean and tidy. The pool was also a lovely end to a hot day at the beach. Plenty of tavernas, bars and a supermarket are walkable, and the beaches are just about walkable if you're fit, or a short drive away. The kitchen had the basic amenities you'd expect, but we didn't cook or eat in the apartment. Unfortunately, strong winds on a few days and nights turned the balcony into a wind tunnel and made it unusable. It did dry our towels in seconds, though.

We came across this place by chance and thought it was well worth the price. The family who own it are kind and helpful, the cleaning was perfect, and so was the swimming pool. I'd book here again if I return to this island.

The room was spacious, with a lovely balcony and good outdoor furniture, plus free WiFi and air conditioning. The location was great, but I was disappointed by a lot of the rest. Some kitchen items were badly worn: the kettle added flakes of scale to every drink and had a broken lid. We had no kitchen bin for two days, ran out of toilet roll twice, and had to go to the cafe while waiting for more after asking the cleaner. We were told towels and bedding would be changed every three days, but that didn't happen. Beyond making the bed and emptying the poop bin, there wasn't much sign of daily cleaning. There was no iron in the room and no outdoor activities, bike rental or shuttle bus, despite these being advertised and among the reasons we booked. There was no reception service as advertised either. Costa, who showed us to the room, was lovely, but we didn't see him again until the night before we left, by chance. We had no way to contact him in an emergency. Checkout instructions were just a notice on the apartment wall, written in a shouty style. If you book through Booking.com, don't trust everything listed about this place, a lot of it wasn't true.

The apartments are new and a good option for families or couples. The nearest beach is around a 7-10 minute walk, while a traditional Greek taverna and supermarket are about five minutes away. There's a stove and fridge, and the air conditioning and safe are free. The towels are the one drawback, probably dried in the sun, they feel rough on your skin. Argostoli is about a 15 minute drive away.
