Imperial Plus Urban Smart Hotel Thessaloniki

The location is perfect, with everything you might need close by. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the staff are friendly. Breakfast could be better, and there isn't a comfortable spot in the hotel to sit and work for a few hours remotely.

The location is pretty good, just a short walk from both the city center and the waterfront. Breakfast was decent, except for the olives. I can't understand how anyone in Greece could serve olives that bad. But those “sound proof rooms” aren't. The walls are really thin, and on three of my four nights I was woken by music, furniture being moved, or people talking loudly. Whenever I called the front desk, they said they'd deal with it, but it never got quiet. When I mentioned the noise at checkout, the clerk just shrugged and said, “it happens”.

The rooms themselves aren't bad, but that's about the only positive. My fridge didn't work, though each day it was filled with water and the Nespresso machine with pods. At checkout, I was told I had to pay for the “minibar”. There was no sign about a charge, and nobody had told me in advance. I was traveling with high school students. A man at the front desk was trying to get them to pay. When I told them to just walk away, he said, “do not interrupt me when I am talking to my guest”. This hotel feels like an unethical money grab. I encourage people not to book.

We had a wonderful experience at Imperial Plus, and we're deeply grateful. The staff were courteous, professional, and helpful. We also enjoyed the rooftop garden cafe, a lovely way to end the day, and the breakfast was delicious.
