Zacharo Rooms Thirasia

The rooms were spacious and great, and Jimmy and Co were among the friendliest, most welcoming hosts I’ve ever met. The views in both directions, at sunrise and sunset, are just perfect. For €30, you can get a better view with not a soul nearby than people paying 1000€ across the water. Just book it. You won’t regret it. A magnificent, special place.

The rooms were cozy, tidy, and had everything you need. Jimmy was a wonderful host, so kind and nice. The terrace views are absolutely breathtaking. If you want to get away from busy santorini, you’ll find peace and quiet here overlooking the calndera. Definitely recommend it, and I’ll be back.

Zacharo Rooms sits high on the Tirassia ridge, looking across Santorini’s crater. Tirassia is the smaller inhabited island on the west side of the crater, opposite the main island. It was wonderfully peaceful, just right for relaxing and starting or ending a vacation. We only wished we could have stayed longer. The views over the crater bay are spectacular at any time. You can watch sunrise over Santorini, and look out west over the open sea. Being up on the ridge also means the wind keeps things cool. You can walk down from Zachero Rooms to the crater bay for a swim. It’s especially nice after the day trip boats have left and the bay is empty. The walk back up takes some effort, but it’s well worth it. Our host was helpful and kind. He was happy to chat and share some history about his home, but also let you have your own space. The ferry from Ammoudi bay in Oia was easy and convenient, and there was a reasonably priced pickup to take us to Zacharo Rooms. The rooms are basic but more than adequate, and the beds were comfortable. With views like these outside, we didn’t need much reason to stay indoors. In the village at the top there are supermarkets, a bakery, restaurants, cafés, and ice cream. There are also restaurants down in the crater bay. The WiFi worked well next to the rooms.

Jimmy is so kind, and the price is really good, the best of Thirassia. This is a peaceful place with a perfect view of Santorini island, sunrise, and sunset. We recommend staying for at least 2 nights!
