Vlichos Studio Apartment

Such a lovely place, and the hosts were lovely too. We’ll definitely come back!

We spent a week here in June, and the terrace was a highlight from morning to night. We had breakfast by the sea, lounged in the sun or read on a chair, then watched the sunset over dinner and listened to crickets and cicadas under the stars. The Greek landscape felt wonderfully authentic, with horses, chickens, cats, and donkeys roaming freely in view from the terrace. It’s a great spot to unwind. Two excellent tavernas are a few minutes away on foot, along with two equipped beaches and a public beach near the picturesque harbor. Hydra center, where the supermarkets are, is five minutes away by water taxi. We only used one on arrival and departure because of the luggage and the initial expense. Otherwise, we walked the beautiful 40-minute seaside route every day at sunset. Michele, the owner, lives downstairs. She’s warm and sociable, but also discreet, and was there when we needed her. She understands and speaks some Italian and helped us with our bags. Her daughter Christina replied quickly to our questions. For a longer stay, I’d suggest buying groceries at Hydra port when you arrive, since Vlichos is beautiful for its natural surroundings but has no supermarkets. We were welcomed with complimentary water, a breakfast basket, and a bottle of white wine in the fridge. The apartment was clean and well cared for, and they provided a free cleaning halfway through our week, changing the sheets and towels too. We hope to return next year to recharge and enjoy more of the nature and scenery.

The terrace had an amazing view. Our studio was very clean and had everything we needed, and the hosts were always ready to help. I really hope we can go back next summer!
