The common spaces are genuinely nice, and the location is central, so getting around is easy. But the rooms are awful for the price. Ours was so cramped that there was more room for the bed than for walking, with almost nowhere to put luggage. Even using the toilet was uncomfortable, my shoulders pressed between the sink and wall. The front desk staff weren’t friendly. When we asked what was good nearby, they looked annoyed, and they laughed when I asked if the room had AC. The other negative reviews were right, and we should’ve listened. This felt more like an overpriced hostel than a hotel. If I came back to Guatemala, I’d stay in the area, just probably not here.

The housekeeping staff were wonderful, but the front desk showed no concern for guest safety or satisfaction. During our stay, water from somewhere upstairs flooded our room. We told the agent, “our whole room is flooded with water,” and he just said, “I know.” He hadn’t explained what was happening, how long it might take, or what they would do to make it right. He went up to deal with it, and when we returned, he was mopping the floor with a dirty mop. There was no disinfectant, and the room smelled of sewage and mildew for the rest of our stay. They charged us to wash our clothes, which had been soaked in sewage water. We weren’t offered another room at one of their properties, and there wasn’t even an apology. Their policy is no refunds, no matter what happens. I work in hospitality and would have been reprimanded for handling a flood and upset guests this way. At night, getting back in can also be a problem: the doors are locked, and the person who needs to let you in is asleep inside.

The front desk staff were extremely helpful, and the hotel itself is really cool, but I didn’t get a great room. It was tiny, with a full bed and a twin and barely space to walk or put luggage. The bathroom was so cramped that one person could hardly fit with the door shut. The mattress was uncomfortable, and the pillows were very lumpy.

There wasn’t much space to hang towels or jackets, which made finding somewhere for our things a little tricky. Otherwise, everything was fine. The rooms are small but very clean, and the bed was comfortable. We liked the tea and coffee area with its fountain, and the terrace was lovely, with a little garden and two friendly dogs. There’s also a kitchen you can use to cook. We were able to leave our things at the hotel for the volcano hike, and when we got back, our room was ready so we could rest and shower. That was really helpful. Thank you ☺️

The room was so small that there was nowhere to put our suitcases, and showering or using the toilet felt cramped too. Being close to the center doesn’t make up for that. I wish I’d taken the reviews about how small it is more seriously.
