We were here for a wedding, and the setting was stunning: the ceremony took place in an ancient chapel amid ruins, and the reception hall was just as impressive. The hotel feels like ancient ruins in the best possible way, with history all around, though it isn't run-down at all. The rooms aren't ultra fancy, but they were clean and nice, and the service was wonderful. Each night there was turndown service, and walking into the room meant a lovely hint of eucalyptus or mint. Safe drinking water was available at several spots around the hotel. It's outside the city center, but still easy to reach anywhere in Antigua on foot. We ate breakfast at the restaurant a few times. The buffet was tasty with lots of options, though a bit pricey as you'd expect from a hotel restaurant; the menu has something for any palate. If you're visiting Antigua, this hotel is unbeatable.
The hotel is great, with impressive ruins, an incredible spa area, and a good overall flow. The staff know their stuff and are very friendly. The bar was very quiet during the week, though I can't say what it's like on weekends, and the pools didn't seem busy either. It's well placed for walking around. Antigua's sidewalks are, well, almost nonexistent, but you can duck into a little wine or coffee bar to sit, read, journal, or people-watch. I'd highly recommend it.
The hotel is huge and magical, and I absolutely loved my stay. It's a walkable distance from the center, with a great spa and restaurant. The staff genuinely look happy to work there. There are lots of museums and ruins to visit on the hotel grounds, and you can see the agua volcano from the center plaza. My room was big and quiet, with a fireplace and spa.
Casa Santo Domingo in Antigua, Guatemala, is a romantic, charming place with no complaints from me. From the street it looks like a modest storefront, but inside it's a huge, enchanting former convent, beautifully restored as a hotel. The architecture brings together history and luxury, and the grounds include three museums, multiple pools and hot tubs, plus a large spa with an indoor sauna and hot tub. The bar is lovely for unwinding, and the central location puts you right by Antigua's lively scene. My room was impeccably clean and thoughtfully laid out. The modern wall-unit air conditioner worked flawlessly, and the insulation was excellent. The fireplace would be especially nice in cooler weather. The bathroom was a highlight too, with strong toilet pressure, dependable hot and cold shower water, and everything working smoothly. Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Whether you're travelling solo, as a couple, or hosting a gathering, they make you feel at home. I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique, memorable stay.
The hospitality was prompt and communicative, and they arranged shuttle service to La Aurora and any other location I needed. I honestly could write a novel about the wonderful care I received. This true 5-star hotel is a perfect gem in the heart of Antigua, full of architecture, history, art, and nature for a one-of-a-kind experience. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of me.
