Porta Hotel Antigua

There’s lots to enjoy around the hotel, from the large pool that’s great for lounging to the paintings and handmade goods from local artisans. The wares are pricier than outside the hotel. The layout and grounds are beautiful, and the rooms are large with everything you need. Staff are quick to help. The restaurant is convenient, though pricey.

The building has a charming colonial feel, with a lovely entrance and good security. Staff were friendly, and all the sites were walkable. The bathroom wouldn’t flush properly even after engineering was called. Food at the on-site restaurant lacked flavor, and local food is better.

We spent four nights here with family and thought it was excellent value for the price. The hospitality stood out, along with the beautiful accommodations, central location, excellent breakfast buffet, and delightful live music. Curated art and gardens bring together history and culture, and there are plenty of secluded corners for conversation or quiet reflection. It’s pet and kid friendly, too. The only disappointment was the noise at night. The back of our room faced a cobblestone street, and vehicles passing at speed were loud. Fortunately, many of the other rooms are quiet.

This was my second stay, and I really enjoyed it. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, the staff were great and friendly, and the food was amazing. My room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed. I’d definitely recommend the hotel to others.
