Hotel Casa Duranta

There’s a little garden right in the middle of the hotel, with lovely plants that make the place feel more complete and welcoming. We were there just one night, and found the room clean and the staff friendly and helpful.

Not a fancy place, but it was nice, clean, and safe, and the staff were great. They didn’t speak English while I was there, though I speak Spanish. The security person spoke a little English and was visible all night if you looked out into the courtyard. You can walk to everything. Don’t miss this gem!

I was moved from a somewhat dark first room to one facing the garden, and the hotel felt very secure. It was quiet, with good value for the location.

The hotel was spotless, and the room was a good size. Breakfast hit the spot, especially the omelette and fruit yogurt granola. The porters, cleaners, and restaurant staff were all excellent and very friendly. Reception was another story. They ignored us and made us feel unwelcome. At checkout, they added 6% to a tour we’d paid for two days earlier, saying the original receptionist had quoted the wrong price. Our bedroom, #4, had little natural light, and for this price I expected a stronger hot shower than the electric one provided. We had booked room #7 on their website, the room recommended by the Rough Guide, but were given another room at check-in without an apology. Given the poor reception service, it didn’t feel worth the price. The Rough Guide had warned about that, in hindsight.
